CUPPING

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a practitioner puts special cups on your skin for a several minutes to create suction. Your practitioner may use heat, an instrument, or a pump to create suction inside the cup. The suction pulls your skin and underlying tissue into the cup. This form of deep-tissue massage is thought to improve blood flow and loosen muscles. cupping is typically done on the back, but it can also be done on other parts of the body like the legs, arms, and stomach.

People get cupping for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Cupping therapy has been around for thousands of years, and is thought to have originated in China. The practice then spread to other parts of the world like Egypt, Greece, and Russia. In recent years cupping has gained popularity in the United States. Proponents say that cupping can treat a wide range of conditions like pain, inflammation, blood flow problems, anxiety and more.

MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which moxa (mugwort) is burned on or near the surface of the skin. The purpose of moxibustion is to warm and stimulate acupuncture points or areas of muscle pain.

Moxibustion has been used for centuries in Asia as part of traditional Chinese medicine. The practice is gaining popularity in Western countries as more people turn to alternative therapies for their health needs.

There are two main types of moxibustion: direct and indirect. Direct moxibustion involves placing the lit end of a moxa stick directly on the skin. Indirect moxibustion uses an indirect heat source, such as a moxa box or moxa candle, to heat the moxa.
